a) The sum of two real numbers is always real.
If a and b are real numbers, then a + b is a real number.
b) A nonempty set has at least two subsets.
If set A is not the null set, then there are at least two subsets of A.
(One of those subsets is the null set! The other subset would be the set itself.)
c) Every nonvertical line has a y-intercept.
If a line is not vertical,
If a line has a y-intercept, then it is not vertical.
